New Layouts and a new look!

It's that time again for my monthly post! I have a new look, compliments of the kit by Kari Q Designs, Mixed up Heart. I loved it so much I also made a layout with it this weekend using one of my favorite pics from this summer. Here's Lucy peeking through slats on a grainery shed at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Another layout from a K2 kit is this one using Peace, Hope and Love by Kris Myers Designs. It is of my Grandma and Grandpa's wedding day some 70ish years ago. My how wedding photos have changed!

A new CT!

Hello all! It's been a while since I've posted, but since the last one (in April, EEP!), I've joined a new CT! I've just started working with Kari Q and Kris Myers Designs and playing around with their stuff. Here are the layouts I've done with their fun kits. More to come, hopefully soon!! Hope you enjoy my Lucy Layouts!

Knocking on wood

Yippy! I've had more time for scrappiness! I'm just crossing my fingers that it stays that way! I really enjoy my time playing with pics of Lucy and seeing all the things that my computer will let me do, and playing with the kit Keston II has been a fun way to avoid the laundry. Here are my latest creations.

And I'm hoping that the only thing that will keep me from having my fun will be some nice weather! Off to play!

Life is WILD

So here I am again, a whole month later since I've posted anything. Ugh. This blogging thing certainly takes some getting used to!

In my last note, I was hoping for life to slow down. As with all things it seems, as soon as I say that, the opposite happens. Our whole house got yet another cold, this one was crazy and lasted about 2 weeks, plus I had my birthday (I'm the big 2-9 now!) and Lucy's birthday (she's the big 2 now!)
We're all getting sick and tired of being sick and tired in my house, and hoping spring will be here soon. Although as I look out my window, little white flecks keep floating around, so I suppose I have to wait a little longer. Since I'm cooped up and finally able to put my feet up, I finally got some time to make layouts!
As always, I have another great kit from Lindsay Sparkes, this one is called Wild Kitty. You can check this kit out and her other fab stuff here. The first layout is of Lucy banging away on a pot in the kitchen one winter day last year, the other is of my cool cat niece Grace, who was getting dolled up by her cousins. I hope you like!

Thank goodness February is a short month!

It's been FOREVER since I have updated. For shame! February has been CRAZY at my house. Between 2 colds and a stomach bug running rampant in our house, a vacation to Florida and the death of my 96 year old grandpa, I guess I'm glad to say goodbye to February--but not the vacation! And while it was more difficult than I realized to say goodbye to Grandpa, it was time. He was ready, but he will be missed by so many!

In between taking care of myself and my kid and hubby, I did manage to get creative a few times. First thing I was able to do was make a springtime siggy for the beautiful Ava. Lisa is a virtual world friend, and Ava and Lucy would be such good friends if the entire state of Iowa wasn't in the way. Brighten My Day by the fabulous Lindsay Sparkes seemed perfect for this sig. I LOVE this kit! It comes complete with handstitched flower designs!

I was also able to use Brighten My Day for a scrapbook page. This one I started when I learned of my grandpa's diagnosis with cancer. Here is "Dolly", Grandpa's nickname for Lucy from the first time he met all 4ish pounds of her.

I also wanted to share something very special to me. I was able to make a program for Grandpa's funeral. I am really pleased with how this turned out. Thankfully we were able to make these programs in color, I would have been sorely disappointed for this to have been in black and white. Here is the front cover, using pieces from WaterLO Project kits Grandma's Backyard and Autumn Meadow.

I know I mentioned that I was glad to say goodbye to February, but March is here now and that means birthdays at my house! Lucy will be 2 in just over two weeks, and I haven't even started planning! My birthday also tends to sneak up on me this month. Before I know it, I'll be saying goodbye to March! I better get planning!

Keeping the creative juices from freezing in the cold

It's too cold to do anything except cozy up to a fire and add a blanket, so I thought I'd play around with Spinky Dink's new kit Fly Me To The Moon. It's only $1.00 until the 20th of this month. In the process I took a little trip down memory lane to nearly 2 years ago to our first day with Lucy in the world with us. Life has not been the same since, but we wouldn't have it any other way. A bit cliche, I know, but would you expect anything less from a parent?

Here are a couple pages I put together of our first day together.

Cute, right? Gotta love the cow jumping over the moon! Snag it quick while it's still only $1.00!

STILL Thinking Spring...

Oh, in the name of all that is holy! This weather is seriously putting me in the foulest of moods. In an attempt to make myself feel better, I'm digging through pics of warmer days, and realized that I had a few more good pics from this spring day at Grandma's. So I thought I'd put together another page from the day with Spinky Dink's Dreaming of Spring, with green grass and sunshine calling my name. At least tomorrow the temperature here won't have a - in front of it as the HIGH for the day. UGH.
Stay tuned for more to come soon, it's too darn cold to go outside unless absolutely necessary. (Like when trying to get cars to start. But that's a whole 'nuther blog...)

Added a little color to my virtual world!

Wow. Much better. It was looking just a LITTLE drab around here. So I decided to use Spinky Dink's kit Dreaming of Spring to add a little color to my world. Major props to Lindsay for helping me get this set up. Thanks!!!

I'm hoping to get a few things done around here these next few days because I'm leaving my house as little as possible until the temperature around here stops having a - before the number. BRR!!!

Dreaming of Spring!

With all the ice we're still chipping away at here, I thought it would be nice to think of sunny days and green grass. It was definitely fun to take one of my favorite pics of 2008 and make a bright page! And I didn't realize how much Lucy's eyes have changed in the past 6 months or so. Her pretty blue eyes are not doctored in this pic, but sadly they aren't staying that pretty blue anymore. My little baby is growing up! WAH!

Next on my list of things to do is to sign up for some more sites so I can post up my pretty gal. (Ok, so I'm just a little biased and only a bit of a show off.) You can check out the kit by clicking on my created page.

We shall see...

It is looking a bit bare here, so I'm going to fill it up with some ramblings, just to get myself settled into my newest home on the interweb.

Since you're as new to this blog as I am, I'll introduce myself. I'm Kala, and the reason for all of this white space we're currently surrounded in is to jump in feet first to my new endeavor, a digital scrapbooking creative team! I am LOVING Lindsay Sparkes kits, and when I saw she was looking for CT members, I jumped at the chance! I've been using her stuff for making siggies at Siggy Celebs, and just to get rid of some of this blank space, I'll post a couple I've done using her kits. (This is assuming I can figure out how to do it, of course).

Whew! That was way easier than I thought it would be. So I'll hold my breath as I hit publish and hope for the best. If all goes well, this blogging thing could become a new and slightly addicting hobby... Don't tell my husband!
